Blue Blooms
Today's card is one I've had in my head for awhile but just haven't had a chance to actually put it to paper. I just got back from vacation in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida (It was a lot of driving but a lot of fun. If you want to hear about the adventures visit my husband's Instagram account - @hesitanthandyman). Before we left, I decided to stamp several things and took my colored pencils and Arteza pens to color.
One of the items I stamped was the Altenew Peony and I decided to color one of them a blue/purple. I used my Prismacolor pencils for the job and went to town coloring one night.

Once I got home, I decided the flower needed to be the focal point of a card. I used the coordinating die to cut the flower out and then went to work on the background. Lately, I've been seeing backgrounds done by stamping the same flower repeatedly in a light ink and then placing one colored flower in the center of the card to draw your eye to it. I decided to do a take on that by stamping the peony stamp repeatedly on a white piece of cardstock using my Tim Holtz Stamping Tool. Once stamped, I trimmed the cardstock down to 3.75x5. Then I matted the cardstock with Grey Bazzil cardstock and a blue cardstock in my scrap supply.
Next, I popped up the blue peony with 3M foam tape and placed it slightly off center, where there was a bit of empty space from the grey flower stamping. Then, with a scrap of the blue cardstock I stamped the sentiment "Always be blooming" from the same Altenew peony set with versamark ink and embossed with Ranger silver embossing powder. I trimmed it down to fit below and to the right of the peony.

Lastly, I placed some blue and aqua sparkly enamel dots from Happy Little Stampers and used my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen to add some sparkle to the grey peonies in the background.

Just because I liked it so much, I ended up taking the other peony I colored and copying the layout in pink and tan! I switched out the sentiment for another blooming sentiment in the Altenew Peony stamp set and used Wink of Stella for the shimmer and Honey Bee Stamps Rainbow Rhinestones.

I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I did! I've linked it up to the Color Throwdown Challenge , Time Out Challenges , and Altenew July 2018 Inspiration Challenge. Thanks for checking it out!
