Incredible Cards
Hi all! Welcome back to another card post! Today's cards were inspired by the new movie, Incredibles 2. Last weekend, we went to our local drive in (which is awesome by the way!) with a large group of friends and saw Incredibles 2 and Solo. It was the first time taking our almost 2 year old son to a movie, (let alone the drive in!) and we were sure how he would do since the movies didn't start until 9:45pm! Lo and behold, he made it through Incredibles and fell asleep about 20 minutes in to Solo! 😮 It was an enjoyable movie and a fun time with friends.
The next day after watching the movie, I knew I had to make a card with the superhero girls from My Favorite Things I had colored for the 30 Day coloring challenge the week before. They're just so cute!
Deciding the layout of the card took a little bit of thinking but eventually, I decided that for each of the cards the girl would be popped up on foam tape holding her shield with a cityscape in the background looking as if she had just rescued the city in one fell swoop.
For each of the 4in.x5.25in. backgrounds I used a mixture of Distress and Distress Oxide Inks. For the more pinky/orange sky I used:
Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide
Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide
Orange Marmalade Distress Oxide
Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink
For the more blue-green background I used:
Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide
Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide
Salty Ocean Distress Oxide
Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink
After creating the backgrounds with the Distress inks I stamped each of them with the cityscape included in the Supergirl Stamp set by My Favorite Things. I wanted to create the same basic card layout for the two cards but I wanted each card to standout in a different way. Usually with Distress Inks I love to spatter water on them to make them look more whimsical but I just didn't feel that way about the pinky/orange background. I did however feel like the blue-green background needed some texture and I thought flicking some water mixed with Perfect Pearls would make it look like a starry night. So I mixed up some Perfect Pearls water and went to work (I may have worked over time and gotten a little zealous, because I accidentally flicked a couple of drops onto the pink background...whoops!)
I then heat embossed the sentiments onto each card using embossing powder from Brutus Monroe, which I think the bright colored embossing powders really makes them pop. As an extra touch on the pink card (and to hide some of my accidental water droplets), I also heat embossed some yellow lightning bolts around the sentiment.
I then put 3M foam tape on the back of the supergirl and on the side of her shield that would touch the card. I then glued on the front panel to a 4.25x5.5in black panel and attached the black panel to an A2 card. Lastly, I decided to put glossy accents on each girl's shield and some Nuvo sparkle pen to the girls' capes to add an extra pop to the card.
I think they're each adorable and I can't wait to send them out!
